Interaction with Partner 24 June 2010

Yesterday, Ben and I filmed some more footage with our partner Bob Amos. Ben and I found that some of the film we captured on Tuesday was not of a quality we want for this project. We thought that the main reason for this was the lighting. Yesterday, we were lucky enough to capture footage on a more overcast day and found that the film is much better. Now that we have finished filming, Ben and I hope to spend the rest of this project editing.

Interaction with Partner 22 June 2010

Yesterday, Ben and I worked with our partner Bob Amos to shoot the film that we are using to promote the Hayle Social Enterprise Trust. We started the shooting of the film at 11 in the morning and finished at around 7 in the evening. We managed to get nearly an hour of footage and overall we are both happy with the film we captured. Other than filming we also went to Hayle Archive to get some footage of Hayle in its industrialized state. We were lucky to obtain such footage as usually they would have charged us hundreds of pounds, but we managed to get it for free as it is for a video promoting Hayle.

Funding for Client's Organization

The organization that my client is working for has not yet got funds for the project. The video that I am producing for the Hayle Social Enterprise Trust is a plan to raise money to fund and promote the project. Bob Amos is also working with MyCornwall.TV by producing a video for them in exchange for money. The money the project receives will be put towards the Screen Machine and once it is in Hayle, will be used to screen both the video I produce, and the video produced for MyCornwall.TV.

Contact with Partner

Last Thursday, Ben Amos and I shot some footage for the video with our partner. We met at Hayle in the morning and brought with us the camera equipment we needed to shoot the film. The part of the film we shot on Thursday was the interview. With our partner, we interviewed Roy Ingles, the cinema consultant who is behind the Screen Machine - the 3D-cinema complex that will be coming to Hayle.

Targets

By the end of the day I will do my research log and mind map. By the end of the week I will create a list of resources available for my project and how much they will cost. By the end of the week I will also complete a SWOT analysis and contact my partner.

Detailed Description of Hayle Social Enterprise Trust

MOVING pictures will be coming to West Cornwall this summer – in a unique cinema on wheels. The Screen Machine, which has 80 seats and air conditioning, will arrive in Hayle in August and show up to three films a day. It is the idea of Hayle Social Enterprise Trust, who are keen to bring a more permanent social hub, cinema, theatre and museum to the town.

Chairman Bob Amos said: "The town has listed a cinema and community facilities as priorities for a number of years".

"During the last week of August we will be bringing an experience to Cornwall that is normally only seen in the Highlands of Scotland".

Housed in an articulated lorry, the Screen Machine, with 3-D digital projection, usually takes the latest Hollywood blockbusters to isolated communities in Scotland. The Screen Machine will be sited at Commercial Road car park from August 26-30, to coincide with the launch of a special exhibition to showcase plans for a new "Pioneerium" in the town.

Mr Amos added: "The Pioneerium is a desperately needed social hub, cinema, theatre and ground breaking museum".

"It will be owned and run by the community for the benefit of the community and local businesses".

Mr Amos said the exhibition would include a detailed three-dimensional scale model of engines from the National Railway Museum. He is seeking sponsorship of the Screen Machine from local businesses to enable the Pioneerium to raise the funds it needs to take forward its charitable objectives. A feasibility study will look at proposals for a heritage museum, focusing on the early days of the railways and steam engineering, along with a range of facilities such as educational, exhibition and social spaces.

What's on Guide Secondary Research

The secondary research for my What's on Guide was most predominantly through cinema times at Savoy Penzance. For my What's on Guide, I wanted to take a more focused approach towards film in the local area which is why I looked at the times at Merlin Cinemas. My What's on Guide is an A6 document split into two sides - day and night. I looked through the times and split them into the two sections so people new what was on during the morning and afternoon or evening time. The research I used is in the following:
